Carmel is proud of its history of valuable service to the people of Jammu. It was on 7th April, 1995, the school was blessed by late Bishop Hippolytus Kunnunkal OFM Cap, in the presence of three Apostolic Carmel Sisters namely, Sr. M. Jacinthe, Sr. M. Janice and Sr. M. Sumita. At the initial stage, the school began with LKG, UKG and Class I. Over the years, the little seed that was sown in 1995, has grown up to become a sprawling tree as it is today and has gained much popularity.
The first batch of Class X students passed out in the year 2005 by registering 100.00% results in the Board Examinations. Since then year after year, Carmel girls have had outstanding results in academics besides co-curricular activities. The long pending demand of the parents and the dream of the management for its up-gradation came true in April 2017 when the government granted affiliation to the school for Higher Secondary in all streams. Thus, Carmel is now a Higher Secondary School for girls offering Science, Commerce and Humanities.
The institution, now, offers a sound value based education and has well-qualified, competent and techno-savvy staff members that make a difference. It offers a wide range of scholastic as well co-scholastic activities. The school has well-furnished infrastructure, fully-equipped smart classes, well developed labs and a playground and provides a plethora of opportunities to sustain a healthy lifestyle and promote a quality life.
The school is recognized by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir and is affiliated to Jammu & Kashmir Board of Secondary Education (JKBOSE).
