Carmel Convent Hr. Sec. School Kunjwani celebrated first of its kind Grandparents’ Day conducted by Pre-Primary as well as the Primary sections with abundance of respect and admiration. Mrs. Gurdeep Kour, Grandmother of Gurnoor Kour of Class II A graced the occasion as the chief guest of the day. The event unfolded with the lighting of the auspicious lamp by the dignitaries followed by a soulful prayer dance. The little ones welcomed their grandparents by presenting them with handmade card and specially prepared gifts. The power packed dance performances by the little ones left everyone spellbound and thoroughly mesmerized. The icing on the cake was the skit performed by students of class II which showcased the special bond shared by grandparents and grandchildren.
A series of fun games like Garland making, Balls in the basket, plaits making and straws in the bun were organised for the grandparents. The children were very excited to see their grand fathers and grand mothers participate in the games and cheered them wholeheartedly. The grandparents were very sportive and brought out the child in them through their active participation. The fond affection for their grandchildren reflected in the very fact that they held the hands of their respective grandchild while participating some of the games. The children seemed like a motivation factor for them to give their best. The whole campus was abuzz with joy to see the happiness ushering on the faces of all the grandparents. All the games were thoughtfully planned by the teachers so as to make this day special and memorable for all the grandparents.
Mrs Gurdeep Kour, appreciated the efforts of the staff and students and added that the grandparents provide unconditional love, patience and lessons of life to their grandchildren in abundance. She thanked the grandparents for their active participation on this occasion and wished them all along, healthy, comfortable and cheerful life and exhorted the children to respect and take care of their grandparents.
Sr. Maria Swati A.C, Principal in her address thanked every grandparent for their presence, continuous support and guidance to children. She congratulated the students for putting up scintillating performances for their grandparents. She emphasised on deteriorating values in today’s world and urged that children can learn a sense of respect for their elders through nurturing relationships with their grandparents. Some of the grandparents shared their mesmerizing moments and relived their childhood with the grandchildren. The success of the event was evident through their joyful smiles and teary eyes as they were overwhelmed to see their grandchildren performing for them. The day ended with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Neera Jamwal.
